The Whisk was originally featured in the Waltz syllabus and has been adapted for use in the Quickstep.
Citations
The Whisk is listed in The Quickstep and Basic Principles under
'Figures Common to more than one Dance,' however, Guy Howard seemed not to find it suitable for the Quickstep, as the entry under 'Quickstep' and
'Whisk' reads "---" and nothing more. It is unclear whether this makes it a legal figure to compete in IDTA syllabus Quickstep, and if so, at what level it is to be taught.
There is one reference to the Whisk (Quickstep) in Alex Moore's
Popular Variations [3rd Ed.] – Quickstep Variation No. #42.
Geoffrey Hearn's A Technique of Advanced Standard Ballroom Figures has charted the Fallaway Whisk from PP, which, due to its different character and entry merits a separate page.
