The Running Zig Zag is a development of the Quickstep Zig Zag, and is also no longer part of the ISTD or IDTA syllabi. However, its successor – the Zig-Zag, Back Lock and Running Finish – still enjoys a healthy popularity today. The Running Zig Zag was listed in the
Associate Syllabus (Bronze) of every edition of Alex Moore's Revised Technique up until the 8th Edition of 1976. The Running Zig Zag is one of ten figures to have been removed from ISTD syllabus.
The Running Zig Zag is a fine example of Ballroom's origins in social dancing, and as such should be viewed more historically than competitively. It consists of the following:
1-2 Zig Zag (SS) begun facing LOD and turning 1/4 to Left – into –
Running Finish (QQS) turning 1/4 to Right to face LOD.
